Kavala’s beaches receive Blue Flags for another summer
Once again, the beaches of Kavala and Thassos have been recognized for their cleanliness, organization, and natural beauty, earning the prestigious Blue Flag award — an internationally acknowledged distinction that guarantees quality for every visitor. In the summer of 2025, 14 beaches in Kavala and 5 in Thassos will welcome locals and tourists alike, proudly flying the Blue Flag. Among them is Ofrynio Beach.
This award, presented by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN), highlights the ongoing efforts of local authorities and businesses to offer a safe, clean, and welcoming environment to visitors. Since 1992, the HSPN has served as the national operator of the Blue Flag program, which is implemented in more than 50 countries worldwide. The Blue Flag is a globally recognized symbol of quality, awarded under strict criteria to organized beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators.
With 623 awarded beaches, Greece holds the second position worldwide among 52 countries, representing 15% of all international Blue Flag distinctions. This consistent achievement reflects the steady enhancement of tourism services and the country’s growing environmental awareness.
